Salt Lake County – An overnight rampage by one man has left hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to three residences in White City and a Unified Police Department Substation.

UPD responded to the first hit and run at 1:23am on Silica Dr. The suspect had backed into two vehicles in the driveway and then backed into the front porch of the home. The home owner had come to the front door after hearing the crash and was hit with debris when the porch was rammed. A child sleeping on a couch in the front room was uninjured, but the couch was moved by the wall being pushed in.

The second hit and run occurred as UPD was receiving the information from the first. The suspect vehicle backed into a vehicle in the driveway of the Poppy Lane residence. The suspect then hit a tree at 1100 E. Galena Dr.

UPD broadcast the description of the suspect vehicle to every jurisdiction in Salt Lake County. Before he could be located, the suspect rammed the southeast corner of the Unified Police Department Substation in Cottonwood Heights, causing thousands in damage. UPD understands there may have been an additional hit and run in Cottonwood Heights handled by CHPD.

A Utah Highway Patrol Trooper located the suspect truck, a blue 2006 Chevrolet Duramax 4 door truck, abandoned on I-215 east belt-route.

At 3:30am UPD responded to the Zarahemla Dr. residence after receiving a call of a burglary in progress. The suspect, Deluca, had forced entry into the residence and began to beat the sleeping victim with a blunt weapon. The victim, a long-time business associate of Mr. Deluca, was able to fight back, and with the help of his wife and daughters, was able to subdue Deluca until Unified Police arrived and took him into custody. The victim was treated at an area hospital for facial lacerations.

Mr. Deluca was transported to the hospital with injuries received during the burglary. He will be booked into jail on charges of Aggravated Burglary as soon as he is released from the hospital. It is anticipated that many more charges will be added as investigators piece together all of the hit and run accidents from over-night.
